The history of the Cambridge Satchel Company is not a long one, but it’s a great story nonetheless. Read any interview with Julia Deane, its founder, and you’ll hear about Harry Potter, school bullies, and, of course, a nostalgia for the original Oxford and Cambridge satchels - a quintessentially English tale of one woman’s rise to success.
Julia (above) searched the UK to find someone to manufacture the kind of satchel Harry and Hermione would be proud to carry their wands in, hoping to make enough money to send her daughter to a private school. Within a couple of years her Cambridge Satchels were being shipped all over the globe, and, no offence to the pupils of Hogwarts, are now being worn by some far more fashionable people.
The revival of this old English classic received a further update when it was released in fluros and metallics galore. Luckily for us a selection of these newest satchels are now winging their way across the globe to No. Stone. And we just can’t wait to sling ‘em over our shoulders.
